Candida is yeast naturally present in the body in small amounts. It becomes a problem when there is an over production of yeast which results from an disruption of bacterial flora. Candida overgrowth can cause a variety of disorders and diseases and is often present in people who cannot figure out what is medically wrong with them.

Leaky gut syndrome occurs when the yeast grows out of control and penetrates the intestinal lining, secreting toxic byproducts into the blood stream. This then activates the immune system and can lead to chronic conditions such as headaches, fatigue, depression, fibromyalgia, colitis, constipation, acne, eczema, diaper rash, vaginitis, P.M.S, hair loss, dandruff, memory loss, and food allergies.

A balanced diet is crucial, especially avoidance of refined sugars. Avoiding flour products, alcohol, coffee, fruit juice, dairy products help to improve conditions caused by candida. Excessive use of antibiotics can destroy normal, helpful bacteria flora and contribute to yeast overgrowth.

Beans and black eyed peas have antifungal effects. Steamed vegetables such as broccoli, brussels sprouts, celery, kale, spinach, cabbage, arugula, radishes, dandelion, cauliflower, onion, and garlic, ginger root, tea, brown rice, quinoa, buckwheat, amaranth, rice milk or almond milk. Limit fruit to one serving a day such as apple, pear, or peach. A custom herbal formula supplemented with a balanced diet is also beneficial to the control of yeast overgrowth and for overall health.
